How to write a tutorial video that people actually watch

1. 01

   Promise the outcome in the first line

   Don't open with “in this video we'll learn…”. Open with what they'll be able to do by the end. Outcome-led hooks beat process-led hooks on every short-form platform.

   One action per step, no compound moves

   If a step contains the word “and”, split it. Eight steps × one action each is the ceiling for short-form tutorials — anything denser and viewers tap away.

   Use ordinal cues — first, then, next, finally

   Sequence words let viewers track progress without watching the timer. The generator's step-by-step preset already inserts these naturally.

   Show the result, not just the steps

   End on the finished thing — the loaf, the knot, the configured account. Viewers stay through tutorials when they can see the destination is real.
